Kept. Terms of Service

Last updated: February 26, 2026

Short version: use Kept to write. Your data stays on your device. We provide the app as-is. Subscriptions are handled by Google Play.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Kept ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, uninstall the app.

2. What Kept is

Kept is a private, offline journal app for Android. All entries are encrypted and stored locally on your device. Kept has no account system, no cloud servers, and no way to access your data.

3. Your data

You own everything you write. Kept encrypts your entries on-device using AES-256 and never transmits journal content anywhere. Because we have no servers and no access to your data, you are solely responsible for backing up your entries. If you lose your device without an export or encrypted backup, your journal is unrecoverable.

4. Burner Mode

Standard burner entries exist only in memory and are destroyed when closed. Time-bomb entries are temporarily saved and automatically deleted after the chosen duration. Dissolved entries cannot be recovered. This is the intended behavior, not a bug.

5. Premium subscription

Kept offers optional premium features via Google Play subscriptions and one-time purchases. Pricing is displayed in the app using localized prices from Google Play.

6. Free features

Core journaling — writing, reading, Burner Mode, export, and local encryption — is free and will remain free. Premium unlocks additional features like encrypted backups, themes, and version history.

7. Crash reporting

Kept uses Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports (stack traces, device model, OS version). No journal content or personal information is included. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Prohibited use

Don't reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of Kept. Don't use Kept for any activity that violates applicable law.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Kept is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that your data will never be lost. You use Kept at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Kept shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the app.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated date at the top will change. Because Kept has no account system, we cannot notify you directly — check this page periodically.
